Intellectual Disability Evaluations
An Intellectual Disability (ID) evaluation helps determine whether an individual meets criteria for a developmental disability that affects reasoning, problem-solving, cognitive abilities, adaptive functioning, and learning across settings.
These evaluations are often requested to support accessing appropriate services, such as special education or long-term care planning in order to ensure the individual receives the recourse, education, and therapies they need to thrive.
Individuals with ID have significant difficulties in intellectual and adaptive functioning which impacts everyday social and practical skills. These individuals may face challenges such as communication, learning and reasoning, and independent living. We take a thoughtful, evidence-based, and family-centered approach to ensure accurate diagnosis and helpful next steps.
What to expect
Intellectual Disability Evaluations can take up to six to eight hours in over a span of one to two days. After assessment, you can expect a comprehensive written report with cognitive and adaptive testing results, diagnostic impressions, strengths and support needs, recommendations for home, school, and services which will be reviewed in a feedback session.
